Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Policy
SwiftMove Logistics Ltd expects everyone to think about their role in managing Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) risks that exist in our business and in particular with their own area of responsibility and influence.
To help us manage these risks we require everyone connected with our activities to adhere to the principles of:
- Respect our stakeholders
- Reflect on past learning
- Protect each other and the environment
By following these principles and thinking forward we will ensure that EHS risk Management forms an integral part of our day to day working practices.
To achieve these principles, we commit to:
- Proactively manage EHS risks and plan our operations taking those risks into account.
- Comply with the requirements of all applicable Kenyan EHS laws and regulations, apply industry best practice where legislation is lacking and implement internationally recognised standard management of EHS.
- Work in Socially and Ethically responsible manner while making a positive contribution to society.
- Prevent pollution and minimize other adverse impact on the environment and the local communities where we operate by working with government and international agencies to protect the physical environment, wildlife, culture and archeology of Kenya.
- Maintain a safe working environment by implementing safe systems and taking responsibility for the health and wellbeing of our staff and contractors.
- Empower everyone in SML or those working on our behalf to stop any activity they regard as irresponsible or unsafe.
- Invest in building a competent and capable organization supported by strong and visible EHS leadership in which every individual accepts responsibility for EHS and is rewarded positive results.
- Ensure those working on our behalf adopt similar high standards of EHS management.
- Monitor our progress against strong EHS objectives and targets and to continually improve our performance.
The project manager is ultimately responsible for ensuring compliance with the EHS policy. In adhering to this policy, everyone in SML or working on our behalf demonstrates a commitment to developing the opportunities that exist in Kenya without comprising our Environmental Health, Safety and Social Responsibilities.
